The Honorable Annie L. L. Williams

Retired Clerk Dies But Leaves Legacy

The Honorable Annie Lee Williams, who served as the clerk of the circuit court in Dinwiddie County passed away recently. Ms. Williams served as clerk from 1976 to 2007. She commenced her professional court career in 1956 as a deputy clerk in the clerk’s office. Ms. Williams was known by attorneys, local citizens and other circuit court clerks for her professional and efficient management of her office. During her tenure as clerk, she oversaw the scanning of deed books from paper format to digital format and she was responsible for implementing the records management system which improved the deed recording services. Ms. Williams was an active member of the Hawkins Memorial Presbyterian Church where she worshipped for many years. The Virginia Court Clerks’ Association extend its sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Annie Williams. We are grateful for the opportunity to know and work with this very dedicated public servant.
