October 2, 2014 NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: Cathy Hogan The Virginia Court Clerks’ Association (VCCA) announced today that it had recognized Senator Ryan T. McDougle (R-Senate District 4) as one of its two 2014 Legislators of the Year for his leadership in introducing and passing legislation that promotes the use of technology to improve the operation of circuit court clerks’ offices. McDougle’s Senate Bill 435 was enacted earlier this year by the General Assembly and had been a top legislative priority for the VCCA. “I am extremely pleased to announce Senator McDougle as a VCCA 2014 Legislator of the Year,” said VCCA President Cathy Hogan. “This award is richly deserved for his hard work on legislation that amended a number of state laws affecting clerks’ offices. The Commonwealth is fortunate to have legislators like Senator McDougle who will take on detailed issues and see them through to completion.” “Senator McDougle handled important legislation for the VCCA, and I’m very happy that he is being recognized for his efforts,” said Hanover County Circuit Court Clerk Frank D. Hargrove, Jr. “I thank Senator McDougle for his support for improved operation of clerks’ offices and congratulate him on receiving this award.” The VCCA presented Senator McDougle the 2014 Legislator of the Year award at its Executive Board meeting held in Richmond on October 1. |
