2014 VCCA Conference - Virginia Beach
WIll be adding more pictures and information daily.

President Tina Sinnen officially announces the commencement of the 2014 VCCA Convention in Virginia Beach and introduces the Mayor of Virginia Beach to officially welcome clerks and deputy clerks from all over Virginia.  Tina concluded her one-year term as VCCA President at midnight on September 20, 2014.   Thank you Tina for your leadership and service as VCCA president.

The VCCA Convention kicked off with the annual tradition of a golf tournament. This year’s tournament was held at Hell’s Point Golf Course and Golf Committee Chairman Rick Francis provided a wonderful experience.  Pictured here is Barrett Chappell, searching for his ball after a long drive from the tee.
For many years, the convention registration table has been efficiently managed by Rosa Forrester and Betty Horner.   Pictured here are Rosa and Betty as they prepare for clerks and deputy clerks who are collecting their convention materials at the start of the business meetings.   Thank you Rose and Betty for many years of service to the VCCA by taking care of the registration table.

Clerks of circuit court Erica Williams, Tricia Moore and Rick Francis are very excited as the convention starts in Virginia Beach.  This year’s convention attracted more than 150 clerks, deputy clerks, court officials, vendors and other guests during the business and education programs.   The evening receptions and the banquet attracted more than 200 people.

Newly-elected VCCA President Cathy Hogan and her husband Barry enjoy the banquet and induction of VCCA officers.    Cathy Hogan (Bedford County) was elected president of the VCCA during the convention in Virginia Beach.  She will serve a one-year term effective September 21, 2014.

Dancing with the stars, or clerks that is, Gail Barb (Fauquier Co.), Rick Francis (Southampton Co.) and Luzelle Duggar (City of Charlottesville) get the dance floor moving by showing their dance steps to KC and Sunshine Band.  Most clerks did not know that Rick Francis was the inspiration for KC’s classic 1977 tune, “I’m Your Boogie Man.”   Team Augusta County enjoys the banquet at the convention as the Brydges and the Davises finish dessert and prepare to approach the dance floor.  Few clerks know that John Davis was the disco king during his college days at JMU.

Tommy Moore, the clerk in Botetourt County, and his wife Sandy, enjoy a quiet moment together during the banquet.   Tommy can finally kick back and relax as the banquet concludes.  Tommy has played an active part in each VCCA convention and the VCCA appreciates Tommy lending his talents again this year.    Thank you Tommy!
Clerks John Davis (Augusta Co.) and Gary Clemens (Loudoun Co.) both alumni of James Madison University, discuss their JMU days and current JMU athletics during the convention banquet.    John Davis actually won a raffle prize for the first time at a convention after 22 years of conventions.

The famous class of 2007 gathers for a group photo as they prepare to celebrate another convention gathering.   The clerks who were elected in 2007 have remained very close during their first term of office.   The class of 2007 started the tradition of gathering for photos at each convention when they attended their first convention in 2008 in Loudoun County.
President Tina Sinnen did a masterful job hosting the annual convention in Va. Beach.    Pictured here with Tina are her husband Matt, along with their sons prior to the banquet.    Looks like there are several good future candidates for clerk in her family.

Clerks Christy Jett (Spotsylvania Co.), Machelle Epps (Prince Edward Co.) and Erica Williams (Montgomery Co.) take advantage of the gathering to reunite and rekindle statewide friendships.   A perfect couple!  Krisha and Sigmund Jones take time to enjoy the convention banquet.   Krisha was a deputy clerk in Brunswick County in 2002 when she first become involved with assisting with the convention planning.   Although she is no longer a deputy clerk, Krisha has continued to play an instrumental part in the annual convention, serving as vendor coordinator for the past 12 years.

Neighbor clerks, John T. Frey (Fairfax Co.) and Paul Ferguson (Arlington Co.) compare notes on technology after visiting the vendor area during the famous Poker Hand program.   Breakfast is always a popular time during the convention as clerks and vendors prepare for lively discussions and conversations related to court technologies.  Pictured here are former clerk Paul Garrett(City of Charlottesville – retired), Ray Campbell (Caroline Co.), Chaz Evans-Haywood (Rockingham Co./City of Harrisonburg) and Alan Heintzelman of Imagesoft, INC.

There was complete harmony at the convention despite the appearance of butting of heads by Tommy Moore (Botetourt Co.) and John Davis (Augusta Co.)    Tommy and John carry on their long-standing tradition of the bald head butt while trying out the beach chairs during the convention dinner and festivities.   Clerks, deputy clerks and guests enjoyed the Friday evening dinner and festivities.  During the casino night, clerk Ray Campbell (Caroline County), Al Spengler from the Weldon Cooper Center, Karen Campbell and Barrett Chappelle (Dinwiddie Co.) try their luck at the roulette table.   It appears from this photo that Barrett was probably luckier at golf.

Some of the retired clerks attended the convention. Pictured here are former clerk of Orange County, Linda Timmons, Gail Barb (Fauquier Co.), Barry Helmstutler, Vickie Hemstutler (Henry Co.) and Teresa Brown (Franklin Co.)    Linda Timmons served as president of the VCCA in 2006 and hosted her convention in Va. Beach 8 years ago.
The commentary related to legislation was too much for Luzelle Duggar (Charlottesville) to bear so she lightened the mood with her clerk colleagues Randy Carter, Jr. (City of Suffolk) and Yvonne Smith (Henrico.)

The 2014 convention attracted numerous deputy clerks as well as clerk.  Pictured here are Keysha Kelly, Patty Eberhart, Kim Walker and Crystal Keim, who are deputy clerks from Loudoun County.
The VCCA selected Delegate Steve Landes as one of our legislators of the year at the recent VCCA convention.   Pictured here are VCCA Legislative Committee co-chair Paul Ferguson (Arlington Co.), President Tina Sinnen (City of  Virginia Beach), Delegate Steve Landes and VCCA Legislative Committee co-chair Chaz Evans-Haywood (Rockingham Co./City of Harrisonburg) after Delegate Landes was recognized as VCCA Legislator of the Year.

President Sinnen, clerks and deputy clerks enjoy the post-banquet festivities by showing their dance moves.
